More October '09 Lucha!

AAA 10/23/09 in Mexico City:

It should be noted the turnout for this show was dramatically lower from the first dual tapings.

Decnnis, Mini Abismo Negro, Sexy Star vs. Jennifer Blake, Octagoncito, Rocky Romero: It was quite alarming to see Rocky Romero/Mini Abismo Negro go toe-to-toe and be looking each other in the eyes. Bye bye any chance of a WWE contract! Rocky/Decnis worked great together here. Would like to see more of that pairing in the future. Blake looked the best I've seen her thus far but she had two great catchers to work with and was away from the usual mess of a womens match. Good stuff in general.

Dr. Wagner Jr. & Jack Evans vs. Alex Koslov & Teddy Hart: The typical mess you'd expect with Wagner/Koslov just brawling while Jack/Teddy did their moves on each other. Might as well have run two seperate singles matches. Very disappointing.

Fabi Apache & Pimpinela Escarlata vs. Polvo de Esterllas & Rain: Only went 5 minutes or so and was mainly comedy outside of an exchange between the women. Uhm... the women with breasts, not the other women. Tecnicas went over.

Cibernético, Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki vs. El Elegido, El Mesías, Marco Corleone: Horrible. Had to hit FF in the middle because the brawling was awful and the crowd was dead.

Not a good show at all.

CMLL 10/30/09 @ Arena Mexico:

Rare five match show but the opener didn't make TV anywhere. Momentos had clips of nice dives from Escorpion, Semental and Astro Boy though.

Máximo, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs. Euforia, Pólvora, Virus: Fredo's copy picks this up in the 3rd fall but you can see the first two on LoverIce's youtube channel. You don't miss much though. End of the second fall had a great dive spot where Stuka Jr. did a ringpost moonsault as the other tecnicos did cornerpost tope suicidas but the camera work and post-production (going to a split-screen) completely ruined the effect of the dives. Third fall was solid with lots of back-and-forth stuff. Stuka tried his sideways missile dive over the ringpost but came up short and got hurt. His teammates were still able to win though.

Valiente vs. Dragon Rojo Jr. - Mexican National Welterweight Title Bout: Didn't seem edited at all. Pretty good match although not at the level of Volador vs Averno from the week before. Valiente countered Rojo's finisher in the first fall but only got a two and was then put away. Second fall had some good stuff and Valiente took it with his tombstone into a lungblower. Third fall had the dives you'd expect... except no Valiente Especial which was strange. He did get in a bullet tope suicida, running somersault plancha and the old Silver King dive. Rojo countered with his plancha off the top. Lots of nearfalls but not many believable ones. Valiente eventually got the submission win. He worked hard to carry Rojo through this.

Misterioso II, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs. Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Toscano: Pretty much entirely dominated by the rudos so no cool Dorada exchange or Panther/Misterioso matwork. Dorada got in his Dorada Especial II (step-up somersault plancha) on Texano in the 2nd fall. Rudos won clean to set them up for the upcoming feud with No Limit.

Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Shocker vs. Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro: Porky looked disgustingly fat. The match was centered around his return of course so he got in all his usual spots. Mendoza looked overjoyed that someone was finally around who could work on his level. So sad. So very sad.

AAA 10/30/09 in Veracruz:

Crazy Boy, Decnnis, Gato Eveready vs. Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana: Fun opener. Crazzy Boy went move crazy during his mat exchange if you can believe it. Gato Eveready shined in his rare TV appearence as did the rudos who may have thought a good showing here to go with their 10/19 showing would get them elevated. It did not. The comeback spot was funny with Guapito jumping on Decnis' back to get away. There was a dive train and then Decnis used his finisher for the win.

Rain, Sexy Star, Teddy Hart vs. Fabi Apache, Gran Apache, Mari Apache: Hello randomness! Good to see Gran Apache back in action but how weird to pair him against Teddy Hart. Teddy got to do his moves on the old man but seemed extra cautious in punching him and kneeing him. He also got in a ringpost moonsault and should thank the old man for saving his life since he came up short after a slip. The real fun here was when Teddy and Mari got matched up. She killed him dead with a brain buster and then he countered by killing her dead with his power bomb into a lung blower! He even copped a feel during the move! This would have been a fun feud to continue so AAA killed it dead.

Joe Lider, Mantra, Nicho el Millionario vs. Laredo Kid, Octagón, Súper Fly: I was way off in guessing Black Abyss was Mantra but in my defense I guessed based on the photos instead of waiting to see the match. Had I waited I would have punched myself in the face for thinking it was Black Abyss. My new best guess is Mantra was either El Gallego, Mr. Condor or some random friend of one of the Roldans who wanted to try being a wrestler. Whoever it was clearly had no business in this match and his partners clearly had no interest in teaming with him since they ignored him in every double team move and got mad when he tried to interject himself. The match was heavily edited and yet Mantra blown spots still had to be left in so that tells you how bad things were going. The only time he got something right was a quick armdrag spot with Octagon leading to a tope suicida. The mere fact Octagon trusted him to catch a tope suicida leads me to believe it was one of the Diabolicos. Super Fly did a SFTD to nowhere and then got backdropped into the crowd in the only cool spot of the match. Actually I take that back... the inverted wheelbarrow into a backcracker was also really neat. As the Hermandad got the winning pinfall on Laredo Kid, Mantra ran over to sit on top and almost fell. Oy.

Alex Koslov, Teddy Hart, El Zorro vs. Marco Corleone, Pimpinela Escarlata, Rocky Romero: I'm convinced this entire taping was punishment for Teddy. First he had to work with the women and then he got put in this match, mainly matched up with Pimpinela who kissed him plenty of times. Teddy tried to do his moves on Pimpi who had no idea how to take them so it looked awful. Sucks to be Teddy. There were some funny spots with Corleone/Koslov and Romero/Koslov but in general the match stunk. Zorro ended up being put over thanks to outside interference from Konnan. There was a pre-match segment where KoslovCam first tried to peek at Rain's boobs (FAIL) and then caught Konnan and Zorro talking about what happened at Triplemania. The long forgotten angle! I didn't care enough to listen to what they said but I'm assuming based on the finish that the idea is Konnan helped Zorro here so show he forgives him. Awwww.

Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Último Gladiador vs. El Mesías, Extreme Tiger, La Parka Jr.: Way too long. Should have went straight from the tecnico comeback into the finish but Wagner was involved so naturally we had to get brawling in the crowd that took forever and meant half the crowd couldn't see what was going on. This works in Naucalpan. It does not work on TV and in front of a large crowd. But it's Wagner. He does what he wants and gets away with it. Good for him. The setup spot for Tiger's dive and the dive itself were fantastic. That's about all I have to say about this match.

Catching up October '09 Lucha...

CMLL 10/16/09 @ Arena Mexico:

A full show made various TV shows!

Molotov/Starman vs Artillero/Super Comando: Excellent way to open the show. The tecnico team has shown in the past they can be lazy at times but they were trying hard here and the rudos always work hard. Crowd got into the match near the end and they had a nice little finishing sequence put together. The short TDN run was worth it for matches like this.

Estrella Magica/Lluvia/Marcela vs Hiroka/La Amapola/Princesa Sujei: Can't remember much about this so it clearly didn't stand out in any way. I do remember Estrella Magica trying her little half-moonsaultish dive to the floor and the rudas trying to catch her but failing miserably. Such is the CMLL women's division...

El Hijo Del Fantasma/Stuka Jr./Valiente vs Poder Mexica: Excellent match. You really can't go wrong with this crew and these guys had the extra motivation of knowing they'd be heading to a revenge match the following week. The Valiente/Rojo feud was the center of attention but everyone had their chance to shine. Rudos got DQ'ed and stole Valiente's mask post-match.

Volador Jr. vs Averno - Lightning Match: Exactly what you'd expect. Volador got in his trademark moves and Averno was only there to catch and wait for the part of the match where he got to tear at Volador's mask. Volador won to set up the title match the following week.

Mistico/Shocker/Strongman vs Atlantis/Negro Casas/Ultimo Guerrero: Mainly the Strongman show as the rudos were bumping all over for his sloppy moves. I don't really get it though b/c the idea is to push him as something DIFFERENT. So why have him do moves like fancy armdrags and planchas off the turnbuckles? I get that you want the crowd to be impressed but look at Giant Silva. He did his usual shtick for months before he began trying to do things like planchas off the apron. If you blow your load in the first month you are in - what's left for the crowd to be amazed by?

Black Warrior vs Yujiro - Hair vs Hair: Oh my god. Fucking awful. I knew Warrior didn't care any more by this point but he really drives the point home with his performance in this match. He just wanted to get his head shaved and go spend his dough on weed. So sad for a guy who used to be so talented. Crowd totally didn't see the finish coming because it was so lame. Warrior didn't even act like the loss meant anything so I don't think this even accomplished anything for Yujiro. A win over Maximo may have meant more.

CMLL 10/20/09 (10/24/09 on C3):

It should be noted that NOBODY came to see this show. I'd be stunned if more than 600-800 fans were in the building. The floor seats were virutally empty outside of the first 3-4 rows on each side and every time they did a longshot it appeared the bleachers were completely deserted outside of the usual tecnico supporters section. Pretty sad and even sadder is the wrestlers worked to the level of the crowd. They treated it like a nothing show and just wanted out.

Astro Boy/Guerrero Maya Jr./Sensei vs Dr. X/Hooligan/Nitro: Average opener. I've certainly seen better. Dr. X and Nitro really drag down any Tuereg matches they are involved in. Both are clearly out of shape and their bodies are wearing down. At least the actual team went over here which made sense.

Bracito De Oro/Electrico/Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeno Nitro/Pequeno Warrior/Pierrothito: As I noted above... these guys just wanted to go home. The entire match lasted 6 or 7 minutes. Third fall didn't appear edited at all and just had the dives and the finish within a minute. Even Dorada who always works hard didn't appear to be breaking a sweat here.

La Sombra/Mascara Dorada/Toscano vs Felino/Heavy Metal/Virus: This was the last chance to save the show and no dice. Dorada had a somewhat decent exchange with the rudos but once again these guys just wanted to go home. Sadly Dorada and Felino didn't make it as the planned finish went all wrong. They tried the old Mascara Magica/Felino deal where Dorada did a headstand and Felino caught him for a Splash Mountain off the top rope but he lost control of Dorada and they both tumbled to the floor with Dorada smacking his head on the apron and Felino landing awkwardly on his neck. They both lay there dead. Felino actually seemed more stunned than hurt but Dorada was clearly in pain. To their credit the other four wrestlers improvised a finish very nicely. Both guys got stretchered out.

Averno/Mephisto/Efesto vs Ray Mendoza Jr./Yujiro/Naito: A worst match of the year candidate. I still want an explanation of why the son of a legendary Mexican wrestler is always teaming with foreigners.

CMLL 10/23/09 @ Arena Mexico:

Women's tag opener did not air anywhere. Writing that just brings tears of joy to my eyes...

Bam Bam vs Pequeno Damian 666 - Lightning Match: Sadly this was joined in progress but what aired was awesome. Damian lept off the top into two feet from Bam Bam who then did his guillotine legdrop as Damian hung in the ropes except TO THE FLOOR! AWESOME! Then came one of the best spots of the year where Bam Bam tried an asai moonsault dive and Peq Damian just picked up his feet causing Bam Bam to bounce into the front row! Gave me fun flashbacks to the Astro Boy/Ramstein greatest spot ever! Clearly Bam Bam was dead so Peq Damian rolled him inside and gave him the J-Driller just to make sure. The reaction of the rudo fans in the front row was hilarious.

El Hijo Del Fantasma/Stuka Jr./Valiente vs Poder Mexica: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME! I cannot believe CMLL didn't air this on TV. Well... actually I can. THIS is how you do a revenge match. You don't start with matwork or rudo brawling... you send the guys out to kill each other! The tecnicos attacked the rudos during their entrance and threw them off the stairs! Then Stuka/Fantasma did dual dives off the stage as Valiente gave Dragon Rojo a rana on the ramp! YES! MORE MORE MORE! So then Valiente tossed Rojo into the ring and the other two tecnicos beat up Azteca and Misterioso until they tossed them off the ramp and hit them with dual somersault planchas from the ramp! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! Valiente then completely fucked things up and got pinned clean by Dragon Rojo. Hot first fall! Crowd was really into by this point and the chants were louder here than for anything else on the show. Second fall was mostly just Valiente/Rojo stuff with the rudo running away and some mask ripping. The other tecnicos eventually got in just to hit more big dives and just when it looked like Valiente had things wrapped up... Rojo dropkicked him in the back as he tried a springboard and got the win. *standing ovation*

Blue Panther/Hector Garza/Sagrado vs Okumura/Yujiro/Naito: Another two fall match and a decent one too. Couldn't touch the previous match and was a definite comedown for the crowd so they should have reversed the order. Hindsight is 20/20 though. I thought Sagrado's performance was especially excellent but Garza was no slouch. Rudos got DQ'ed for a low blow on Garza. I guess they changed their minds after this b/c the feud switched over to Texano/Terrible.

Volador Jr. vs Averno - NWA Middleweight Title Bout: Excellent match! Much better than I originally remembered. First two falls aired in full. Third fall had a big chunk edited out but if you have the 3ra Caida DVD you can see almost everything you missed which looked really good. Some fantastic nearfalls and great dives from both guys. Finish was fun with Averno killing Volador dead with three straight Devil Wings. Crowd threw a bunch of coins into the ring afterwards.

Mistico/Shocker/Strongman vs Atlantis/Negro Casas/Ultimo Guerrero: Same deal as the previous week except more focus on Strongman vs Ultimo after last week's low blow finish. Mistico drove Negro Casas into the crowd with a bullet tope suicida in the third fall and a fan seemed to get hurt. Shocker and Strongman went over and did their dual pose to end the show.

CMLL 10/27/09 (10/31/09 on C3):

Leono/Metalico/Tony Rivera vs Caligula/Messala/Hooligan: Pure laziness. I can expect that from this tecnico crew but the rudos should be ashamed of themselves. Los Romanos mailed it in so much that they didn't even bust out their usual double team moves.

Fabian El Gitano/Flash/Rouge vs Dr. X/Skandalo/Vangelis: Flash was the only one motivated here. Weird match to pick to get motivated though since the crowd was boo'ing everyone here for their lack of effort and rightfully so. The rudos looked absolutely terrified every time Rouge did that move where he just runs at you and jumps as if not knowing what he is planning on doing...

Averno/Mephisto/Efesto vs Ray Mendoza Jr./Yujiro/Naito: A *little* better than the previous week but still absolutely horrific. I now know why the crowd here was only a bit better than the previous week.

Mistico/La Mascara/Volador Jr. vs Atlantis/Heavy Metal/Ultimo Guerrero: This was like usual main events where the rudos dominate early and the tecnicos come back to do their dives and then get all get exchanges against each rudo. Except this part skipped the exchanges and just had constant dives + a Mistico exchange with Ultimo Guerrero and Volador with Atlantis. Either they had another show to get to or just wanted to go home as fast as possible. Either way it annoyed me. Mistico went over Ultimo clean with La Mistica.

IWRG 10/8/09:

Jack & Miss Gaviota vs. Epidemia & Heavy Boy: Tecnicos were abysmal but the rudos held their own and had some interesting moves. I could do without Gaviota existing.

Eragon vs. Hijo del Signo: This wasn't as bad as I was led to believe. I enjoyed it and wouldn't be opposed to random singles matches weekly on IWRG TV. (I will eat those words before I finish typing this update)

Bushi, Exodia, Hombre Bala Jr. vs. Arlequin Amarillo, Arlequin Rojo, Gringo Loco: Fun match! Tecnicos were all trying stuff they were incapable of pulling off and I love stuff like that!:D All three rudos were tremendous at trying to catch the ridiculous moves and making sure the tecnicos didn't completely die on wacky dives and moves off the top. Bala Jr. impressed me enough to want to see more of him but I think he just disappeared after his two week run. Both Exodia and Loco screwed up dives in the third fall although I think the ropes were messed up.

Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. vs. Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME! I seriously think the pirates have some issue with police officers b/c they destroyed the Oficiales as bad as I've seen them get destroyed. Words wouldn't do this match justice. Third fall ended up as a handicap situation with AK-47 being taken to the back for medical attention on his arm. Needless to say it was total destruction. Finish was BRUTAL. God bless IWRG!

IWRG 10/22/09:

Exodia vs. La Rata: ... Ugh. Told you I'd eat my words. I don't know where this match came from but I wish it would have never occured. Exodia isn't even good enough to be working tag matches let alone singles matches against a pretty much known guy who lies about being a former National Welterweight Champion! Nothing to see here.

El Hijo del Diablo & Gringo Loco vs. Pendulo & Star Boy: Barely better than the previous match. What happened this week? All the regular were working their real jobs?

Black Terry, Pirata Morgan, Tóxico vs. Brazo de Plata, Chico Che, Suicida: Would have been better without the immobile Porky and Pirata. Segura/Terry working the mat was really great. Chico Che almost killed himself on a botched ringpost tope suicida in the first fall. He bled a lot in the second fall but the match was a giant bore. Just guys stumbling around doing much of nothing. Morgan low blowed Porky for the win. Appropriate ending.

Flor Metalica vs. Atsuko Emoto [hair]: I have so many mean things to say about everyone involved in this match but I will bite my tongue. Plus I want to go watch Hawks/Flyers.

Lineups of the Week: 5/31/10 - 6/6/10!

Let's take a look at the lineups for a week that was supposed to be very important in the AAA/CMLL war but thanks to CMLL withdrawing competition isn't much of an interesting week at all. Shame on CMLL.

AAA TV (MON) 05/31 Domo de la Feria de Leon
1) Mari Apache, Mascarita Divina, Relampago, Yuriko vs Decnnis, Mini Histeria, Polvo de Estrellas, Rain

- Should be the usual good match with this crew. Yuriko and Polvo surely only exist in order for them each to make TV once or twice a year. Where is Yuriko w/o Polvo? Not feuding with Pimpi, that's for sure. Relampago/Decnis looked good in the tag match a few weeks back so I'm looking forward to them matching up again. Mari/Rain will probably take center stage here.

2) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, El Elegido vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz

- Even more shocking than the return of Yuriko and Polvo... IT'S CHRIS STONE! STAR OF RFW!!! Wonder if he brought Super Calo Jr. with him? Guessing not. This return is out of nowhere although he does fit that tecnico team perfectly. It figueres AAA finally decides to bring in a new Mexican wrestler and THIS is who they choose. You just can't win if you're an AAA fan and like Mexican wrestlers. Wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of feud start here since it'd be easy for AAA to bury these guys in a feud with each other without having to worry about matching them up with other folks.

3) Jack Evans, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario vs Alex Koslov, Chessman, Kenzo Suzuki

- I'm still not clear on whether the Hermandad are tecnicos or rudos. I guess they just work for whoever pays them? Should be the best match on the show and I figure Koslov goes over Evans to setup Triplemania where I think Jack is finally winning the title.

4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Parka Jr. vs Electroshock & Silver King

- I honestly can't think of a more horrible match. They'll probably just brawl over the building and it'll end with a low blow.

5) Cibernético, Heavy Metal, Octagón vs Hernandez, LA Park, Zorro

- I haven't actually seen any of the recent TV so I'm curious as to whether Heavy Metal is actually working hard opposite Zorro or just mailing it in like he did to end his CMLL run. Octagon vs LA Park will actually be interesting since they've never been on opposite sides since Parka turned tecnico in late 1994.

CMLL (TUE) 06/01 Arena Mexico
1) Principe & Robin vs Cholo & Inquisidor

- Cadena Tres has aired 3 openers in a row - hopefully this will be the fourth! I'm curious to see the new Robin.

2) Ángel Azteca, Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo

- We've seen this match ten billion times by now. So while it will be good, it still means nothing at all. It'd be nice if these teams had some titles to feud over or there'd be a randon mask/hair match once in a while. Any chance Fuego/Stuka will EVER defend those Arena Coliseo Tag Titles in this lifetime?

3) Brazo de Plata, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Ray Mendoza Jr.

- Way to push that CMLL vs Independentes feud! Stick another CMLL guy on the indy team! That'll get the fans to buy tickets! Oh, and here's another idea - put the match third from the top to show how unimportant it is! GENIUS! CMLL pushed this feud into high gear the same week it killed it dead. It's shameful.

4) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

- Finally Rey Bucanero remembers who injured him and put him out for months! It's a shame he only remembered about 6 months after he returned to the ring, many of those months spent teaming with the same guys he is now seemingly angry with. And did you know the Guerreros and Peste Negra are now buddies? You wouldn't know that because CMLL spends more time with fan of the week, surprise wrestler of the week and carteleras rather than using TV skits. I am *100% positive* this is just setting up a revancha for 6/8. Bank on it.

5) Volador Jr. vs Atlantis [MEX LH]

- I think I'm in the minority when I say this could go either way. Volador could use a big win over Atlantis but you can never count Atlantis out in title matches. The company always protects him, especially in singles matches. I hope Volador retains (cleanly) because he needs it but I'm kinda leaning towards the upset here and a new champ crowned.

CMLL (FRI) 06/04 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Sensei vs Mortiz & Semental

- So who's taking the Spanish Fly to the floor? Semental would do it! I just can't think of a logical spot where the rudos get mixed up and Mortiz gives his own partner the move. Joe Lider would be able to figure it out.:) I'm guessing Astro Boy takes it and the rudos win.

2) Astral, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior

- Will Mascarita Dorada show up? It's an interesting mix here which should provide for a good match but ONLY if Dorada is involved.

3) Valiente vs Virus [lightning]

- Their first Lightning Match was a year ago and is still considered the best match since CMLL brought back this format. I expect no different here. How awesome would it be if this set up a National Welterweight Title match? It won't happen and even if it did we'd only get 5 minutes of the match on TV but it's a nice idea in a fantasy world. I'll take Valiente winning his second in a row over Virus.

4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca

- Oops! The random match generator screwed up and actually teamed up the trios champs! I fully expect to see this changed when the ESTO lineups come out.:) In all seriousness... this will probably rule. Dorada has been so incredible lately and yet very few people talk about him. Even Dr. Lucha disrespects him! But in favor of La Sombra so I'll give him a pass. Could another title match be on the horizon between these teams? All signs point to yes but one never knows when Panico, Feliciano and Colombo are in charge.

5) La Máscara, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr.

- After last week's debacle I assume this match will establish the rudo trio as a trio to fear and they will win this easily. Sagrado would be a better fit here than Volador Jr. because I don't want to see Volador lose but perhaps this is to hint towards a future Volador vs Garza feud if they aren't going to keep Volador/Mistico together.

6) Shocker, Strong Man, Toscano vs Atlantis, Gigante Bernard, Último Guerrero

- This will be awful. But forget the match... WHY IS GIANT BERNARD A RUDO ALL OF A SUDDEN? WHY EVEN DEBUT HIM AS A TECNICO IF HE'S JUST GOING TO THE RUDO SIDE A WEEK LATER WITH NO EXPLANATION? ARE THESE QUESTIONS TOO HARD FOR THE BOOKERS? Let me try an easier one - What's 30% of 18,000? Answer: Exactly what this card will draw.

CMLL (SUN) 06/06 Arena Mexico

CMLL gets a chance to go head-to-head with AAA and fails miserably by putting on one of the worst major shows in recent memory (on paper). You could say they've got some surprises planned (someone from Triplemania jumping?) or the guys will work extra hard but that doesn't sell tickets. And the key to this show was to sell tickets so people wouldn't go to Triplemania. So you can call the show a giant failure a week before it actually happens. I'm predicting 6,000 fans at most but they should thank their lucky stars if they get that much.

1) Bam Bam & Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito

- Should be fantastic but it will never show up anywhere for us to see it. (unless Samurai TV is taping the show as they promised earlier in the year)

2) Metro, Rush, Stuka Jr. vs Histeria, Maniaco, Monsther

- I'm looking forward to this just because of the randomness involved. Rush vs Hombre Bala? SIGN ME UP! Stuka Jr. vs Perro Silva? I'M THERE! Romano vs Quarterback? IT'S WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF! This is clearly the Independents 'C' team so CMLL should win this.

3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Shocker vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis

- Otherwise known as the battle of Quemonito vs Cuije! Any match with them involved has been tons of fun to watch and this will be no different. If we're not burying the Independents right away than this is the match they should win to split things 1-1. But as I said earlier... with the three idiots in charge you can never tell what will happen.

4) Máscara Dorada, Místico, Mr. Águila vs Averno, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

- As I said in a post a few days ago I am totally against the idea of this match because the CMLL and Independent wrestlers have no right to be teaming on the first show dedicated to this feud. With that said hopefully Mistico and Volador take center stage here and we finally figure out where CMLL is going with their feud... if one even exists any more. Volador alligning with Averno works or even joining the Independents. What's Super Parka up to these days? Perhaps a run-in for the Independent group leads to Volador helping him out.

5) Brazo de Plata, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Strong Man vs Gigante Bernard, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000

- This match is just an embarassment to CMLL and sets the entire promotion back 25 years. If Paco Alonso cared about his company he would fire the bookers for putting this match together.

6) Taichi vs Máximo [hair]

- The bottom line here is nobody cares. The feud came out of nowhere. It involves two wrestlers who don't matter, one of which is known for losing his hair and having it grow back within days. Maybe Maximo wins. So what? Taichi loses his hair extensions and Maximo continues to be a sideshow act and a big hair match win goes to someone who doesn't need it. Maybe Taichi wins. So what? Maximo's hair means nothing at all. It's a no-win situation for everyone.

The bottom line with this show is CMLL showed three things:

1. The head of the company (Paco Alonso) doesn't care about his own promotion.
2. Everyone with an important position in the company (Alonso, Mar, Colombo, Feliciano, Salazar, Noriegua, etc.) are all a bunch of chickens who would rather not compete when someone threatens their own territory.
3. The bookers are very uncreative and have no long term vision.

AAA TV (SUN) 06/06 Palacio de los Deportes, DF
1) Mini Abismo Negro vs Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito, Mascarita Divina, Mini Histeria, Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Psicosis [AAA MINI, Ladder]

- This is stupid for so many reasons. You could make a list and the reasons just get dumber and dumber:

1. The title means nothing.
2. A ladder is going to get used in lots of matches later in the show so why kill the gimmick in the opener?
3. MIDGETS IN A LADDER MATCH.
4. Injuries are bound to occur and you've got a wrestler booked in the match who is coming off major surgery.

Prediction? I just hope nobody gets hurt. The winner doesn't mean anything in the longrun.

2) Jennifer Blade, Rain, Sexy Star vs Cinthia Moreno, Fabi Apache, Mari Apache [loser is a maid]

- I could give a shit about this feud or the stipulation but Konnan thinks this type of stuff puts AAA on par with the WWE so all the power to him. I don't think the AAA locker room is done with Blade and Rain so odds are they'll win even though the tecnicas are due for a win.

3) Nosawa vs Christopher Daniels, Jack Evans, Extreme Tiger [AAA CRUISER]

- It should be about the time Jack won something of importance and I guess the Cruiserweight Title will have to do. Then he can defend it on his U.S. appearences which no doubt makes Konnan a little wet in the pants. Maybe Tiger takes out Nozawa with some crazy move through a table and that leaves Jack to beat Daniels.

4) Abyss & Cibernético vs Vampiro & Zorro

- In a perfect world Zorro doesn't show up for this and jumps to CMLL to lead the Team Independent with Garza & Aguila. But he's had tons of chances in the past to leave and hasn't so something is keeping him here. I'm just hoping once he realizes he's now playing second fiddle to VAMPIRO he will finally make the right decision. This match will be horrible on so many levels but I will continue to get a kick out of Dave Meltzer's weekly "this is Vampiro's last run on top" line. *L*

5) Alex Koslov, Chessman, Hernandez vs Heavy Metal, Octagón, Pimpinela Escarlata [seconds hair]

- This will probably be really short and to the point with everyone getting in their signature moves and the rudo ref losing his hair. I think back to that original Konnan interview on WON Live after Pena died where he said he was sick of AAA putting on crappy stipulation matches such as refs having their hair on the line. Guess he's okay with that now, huh?

6) Silver King & Último Gladiador vs Atsushi Aoki & Go Shiozaki and James Storm & Robert Roode and Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario [AAA TAG]

- Probably going to be the fourth match on the show where chairs, ladders and tables are involved. Titles are clearly coming back to Mexico, just depends which team is bringing them home. I'm going with Silver King/Ultimo Gladiador and hopefully AAA is at least smart enough to have them beat one of the foreign teams instead of pinning the one team they face on a weekly basis and will probably match-up with at Verano De Escandalo.

7) LA Park vs La Parka Jr. [identity]

- I've said it before and I'll say it again: LA PARK IS *NOT* LOSING THIS FEUD. Not his name, not his mask. I'm sure he made a deal where he'll go over in this match and maybe they'll call La Parka Jr. something like 'Hombre Sin Nombre' for a little while but this feud has no legs. LA Park is going to leave the company before it gets to a mask match. I guarantee it. He knows how to play these things and you've got be a total idiot if you think he's laying down and losing his mask to Karis La Momia. He's his own biggest fan and he can get way more money from a mark promoter in Monterrey or Torreon to do a mask match down the road with Wagner. I'm curious as to how the announcers deal with Parka Jr. losing though. They're so drunk when they do commentary that I doubt they'll be able to remember not to call him 'Parka'. This feud will be an epic failure.

8) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Electroshock [AAA HEAVY]

- How badly would you have all laughed at me if I told you two or three years ago that Triplemania 2010 would be headlined by an Electro Shock singles match? You should all still be laughing if I told you yesterday that it was the headliner but to AAA's credit they have built Electro Shock up well. I presume Wagner goes over though and Electro returns to being a lifetime midcarder who only fills in on top of the cards when nobody else is available or the promotion is just plain desperate.

In the war of 6/6 AAA will clearly be the winner unless one of these two things happen:

1. Triplemania gets cancelled. (not likely)
2. CMLL manages to convince one of the top guys booked at Triplemania to jump. Zorro wouldn't be big enough. It'd have to be either one of the Parkas (doubtful), Wagner (not happening), Electro Shock (long probability) or Cibernetico (strong possibility).
